This is provided for years 7 and 8 for two lessons a week throughout the year and includes one term of swimming and various options which they can sign up for in half term blocks. These options are designed to broaden the interests of pupils while at the same time give them the opportunity to work in different social groups. The pupils gain a sense of achievement and can see the results of their work. Some of the Topics offered include: Gardening, Making Wooden Toys, Specialist Sports Coaching, Board Games, Sewing, Environmental Studies and Camping Skills. The effects of several of these can be seen in and around the school. An example of this is the gardening group who grow vegetables in the six small allotment plots, maintain the flower beds, start their seedlings off in the greenhouse and make their own compost from the fallen leaves on site.
