County Inclusive Resource - Homepage
Welcome to the new CIR site
We are here to help....
The County Inclusive Resource works in partnership with parents, mainstream schools and other agencies to foster and share expertise and good practice in order to develop a high quality inclusive learning environment that enables pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to complete their education in mainstream provision.
The CIR now serves the whole county of Suffolk, with “Satellite Bases” of the CIR at Wells Hall, Honington and Halesworth. Termly referral meetings are held at the CIR base at Beacon Hill School.
Our “County Wide” aims are:
- To promote high quality education for all pupils with ASD.
- To promote an attitude of tolerance and understanding of autistic spectrum disorders.
- To encourage strategies that actively seek to work with pupils’ interests, where appropriate.
- To promote high expectations of all pupils.
- To facilitate routine and structure that provides a platform for independent learning in an educational environment that alleviates stress and anxiety.
- To work in partnership with parents and carers to further pupil attainment.
- To work in partnership with organisations that support.
The County Inclusive Resource teachers will work as practitioner consultants offering outreach support to schools within Suffolk and will aim to achieve the following objectives:
- To work with mainstream schools over a time limited period to enhance and develop their skills in meeting the needs of pupils with ASD.
- To provide continuity, ensuring progression from Reception through to the end of Key Stage 4.
- To promote communication, social and interaction skills in collaboration with class teachers, parents and other key professionals.
- Lead staff training to develop successful strategies for classroom management and high quality learning.
- Work in partnership with schools to evaluate and use different teaching styles in light of the learning preferences of pupils with ASD.
- To ensure that pupils with ASD are positively included in all aspects of the school day.
- To work in close partnership with the LEA to enhance educational opportunities, by providing a high quality service for families of pupils with ASD.
